Finance Organisations are Most Trusted by the UK Public with Personal Information

Symantec Corp. announced the findings of its inaugural UK Trust Index, which investigates the extent to which the public trust different industries with their personal information. The survey of more than 2,000 UK adults found that the financial services sector was the most trusted, ahead of the public sector and online retailers, with more than half (55 percent) giving banks and building societies a high trust score.

Whistle while you work: not likely if you work in Britain

Over three quarters of UK office workers would turn a blind eye to malpractice in the office and fail to report it, according to the latest research from the Federation Against Software Theft.

The research also found that two thirds of British workers are unaware of the law when it comes to protecting whistleblowers in the workplace. A staggering 69 per cent of those questioned stated that they had no idea that legislation exists to protect them should they do the right thing.

A calculator which measures the cost to companies of time spent by employees using social media has revealed that the average company with 52 employees pays out $65000 per year for non-work related social media activity. WebTitan’s social media cost calculator shows that workers using non-work related social networking for a mere 20 minutes is the equivalent of paying out $65,000 or 5% of the year’s salary bill for non-productive work.
