MTI to demonstrate live hacking

MTI, the specialist cloud infrastructure consultancy, and its security practice, GSS, are to showcase their latest developments and capabilities at the MTI Solutions Showcase. The one-day event will explore the latest cloud technologies, and the latest developments in data security. A live hacking demonstration will be a highlight.

The event will bring together key partners and industry professionals to explore the latest trends in information infrastructure and data security. The day will include a series of educational seminars alongside an exhibition where attendees will be able to meet with MTI, GSS and their leading vendor partners offering practical and professional expertise. Only a Quarter of Employees Bypass Security Policies

According to new research from Webroot, the first Internet security service company, only about 25 per cent of employees have tried to bypass company security policies while at work, while nearly all (95 per cent) respect the importance of their employer’s measures for protecting their network and customer information.

“It is a pleasant surprise to learn that employees understand the need for increased security and abide by corporate policy,” said Jacques Erasmus, chief information security officer for Webroot. “That said, employees at all levels still introduce risk to a corporate network through activities like surfing the web, shopping online, planning personal events and accessing personal email accounts while at work. As we see more and more malware being spread through the browser, such as Zeus and SpyEye which infects users’ computers to track their keystrokes and steal their banking information, it is vitally important for companies to put in place suitable web security solutions and develop effective and secure web security policies to help protect their organisation.”

Voting Opens for the Inaugural Counter Terrorism and Specialist Security Awards

Voting has opened for the first ever Counter Terrorism and Specialist Security Awards. The awards have been set up in order that the industry can recognise and reward the incredible work of the many organisations involved in counter terrorism and specialist security around the world.

Companies will be nominated by those working in the industry through the online voting process and the winners will be announced in a spectacular ceremony on the 19th April at the Royal Garden Hotel, Kensington. The Master of Ceremonies for the evening is scheduled to be Jeremy Bowen, Middle East Editor for the BBC.

• The Counter Terrorism and Specialist Security (“CTSS”) Awards will celebrate the achievements of innovative companies working in this field from around the world
• Industry professionals can show their support by voting online via the event website for any company they wish to nominate for one of the 12 awards
• The winners will be announced at the Awards Gala Dinner, to be held in central London on the evening of 19th April 2011, rounding off day one of the Counter Terror Expo

Votes can be cast for any company that fulfils the criteria for one of the 12 award categories.
