Internet Explorer has been the lone option for Microsoft users when it comes to a browser. However, just around the corner millions of European Internet Explorer users will have alternative browsers to choose from. This comes following a legal agreement that was made between Microsoft and Europe’s Competition Commission in December 2009.
In the past, Internet Explorer has always been the default browser for Windows PC users. Now, users will have the ability to install the web browser of their choice providing much more flexibility and options.
Currently, testing has been going on for the update in the UK, Belgium and France. As soon as it is ready to launch, the update will arrive automatically for Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7 customers.
There are a number of alternative browsers users will have to choose from. Some of the more popular options that will be readily available include Google Chrome, Firefox, Safari and Opera. Although a web browser has often been an afterthought for many, this has been because of a lack of options to choose from.
People will finally be able to control their online lives by choosing a browser that suits their needs. Instead of settling or being forced to use Internet Explorer, you can finally make decisions based on your needs and desires.
This is something people have never faced, which is a bit surprising considering the tremendous advancements in the world of computers. It was only a matter of time before this would occur and now it is finally upon us. Many consider this to be a remarkable step forward with the online world.
